DCE/Self Hosted Installs - New Linux BMR and Progressive Full Backups launched - EOL Legacy BMR March 31st 2016

Last Updated: Jan 02, 2016 02:57PM EST
Bacula4 is pleased to announce 2 new Key Features for our DCE/Self Hosted customers.

New Linux ReaR BMR

PLEASE NOTE - Legacy BMR will be EOL March 31st 2016 and will be completely removed from your installs

Action Required -
Please enter the wizard for each of your linux servers, unselect BMR Legacy and select Linux BMR (ReaR).  Save the wizard.  Thats it, you are done.  All new restore points will be enabled with the new Linux ReaR BMR moving forward.  If you have any issues with the wizard, or you are running an unsupported OS, you can manually install ReaR packages for your OS, and then enter and save the wizard - our system will configure everything for you.  You can read more about this HERE

Our New Linux ReaR BMR can also be used to facilitate server migrations.  You can Read more about this HERE

New Progressive Full Technology

Bacula4 is pleased to announce a new Progressive Full technology.  You can read more about this HERE

We do recommend that you switch your servers with the appropriate retention periods over to the new Progressive Full technology (as described in article above).  In the near future, this option will be the default, and customers can manually select different "full" options if they have specific requirements to do so (ie retention periods over 3-6 months for example, we would recommend the more traditional "virtual full" or regular "full" methods)
